Hey there, welcome to the Atlas Obscura blog!
Welcome, welcome. I second everything Dylan just said below. We’re pleased to announce the launch of the Atlas Obscura blog. Our growing team will be publishing lots of neat stuff here: highlighting curious spots, interviewing amazing explorers, spotlighting our top users, and just generally bringing you the wonder.
We’re in the process of cooking up some great new features for the Atlas that will hopefully make the site much cooler and a lot more user-friendly. We hope this blog can start a conversation with you, our writers, editors, users, and perusers, about what the Atlas Obscura should become. So, please, tell us what you want from the Atlas, and we’ll do our best to bring it to you.
On a personal note, let me just say that I’m excited to have an online outlet again. I used to write a blog (of blessed memory) called the Proceedings of the Athanasius Kircher Society. It lives on only in my heart (and the Internet Archive), but I hope that the Atlas Obscura can serve as a venue for some of the same wondrous, curious, and esoteric information that once populated the Proceedings.
On another personal note, I just want to add that I feel enormously lucky to be working with such an incredible team here at the Atlas Obscura. It is the blood, sweat, toil, and tears of Adam, Aaron, Annetta, Seth, our amazing interns, and Dylan (especially Dylan!) that keeps this site running on a day to day basis. Thank you guys!
But of course this site would be nothing without YOU, the users who generously take time out of your day to submit places to the Atlas and edit our content. We’re all grateful for everything you do. Don’t stop sharing… The Atlas needs you!
Ok, happy travels, and good exploring!
