This tower was constructed in the Serra da Estrela mountain range. It is the highest point on the Portuguese mainland. What makes this site unusual is that it is a peak visitors can drive up since the site sits on a plateau. The drive through the mountain range alone is worth the trek.

It is also visible from afar because of the two blue-domed towers that were once used by NATO as a radar station during the Cold War. The two huge towers and support buildings have been listed as historic monuments.

There’s a huge parking lot and walking area that contains amazing views. There is also a place to get some drinks, food, local products, clothes, and souvenirs.
