New York City is one of the most well-documented destinations in the entire Atlas. Over the years, we’ve identified more than 250 intriguing, unusual locations around the city.
As a result, our New York City Ale Trail features a real cross-section of what the city that never sleeps has to offer. It begins far away from the crowds, on the banks of Dead Horse Bay. This SeaQuench-Ale-inspired shore is littered with thousands of glass bottles and other ephemera that have washed up here over centuries. Dogfish Head Brewery’s Flesh & Blood IPA is captured in Mulberry Bend, once the epicenter of Manhattan’s notorious Five Points neighborhood. And for 60 Minute IPA, we’re searching for a secret from the past hidden in plain sight. When the restoration of Grand Central Terminal’s beautiful ceiling was completed in 1998, a single patch was purposefully left untouched. This small section of dirty ceiling, accumulated over more than 100 years, is a tiny window into the Grand Central that once was: a bustling hub filled with the smoke of millions of cigarettes and cigars, mixing with the smoke and soot from steam engines.
