Badwater Ski-Ters
A surprisingly large number of show waterski teams are located here in Wisconsin.
Located one hundred miles north of Green Bay’s Frozen Tundra, Spread Eagle, Wisconsin may seem like an odd location for a summer sport. But show waterskiing is a sport found mainly in small towns in the Midwest, and a surprisingly large number of teams are located here in Wisconsin.
One such team is the Badwater Ski-Ters, which have been performing waterski shows for over 50 years on the border of Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Shows consist of a variety of skiing types interspersed with skits designed to entertain crowds. The Badwater Ski-Ters is comprised entirely of volunteers and they perform approximately 20 shows each summer which are free to the public. They have won multiple state and national awards and have performed all over the world.
