'Blown with Synapses'

This amazing mural has been installed on the front wall of the InfoCamera data center in the commercial suburbs of Padua, Italy. The building adds real joy to a district that is otherwise rather grey. Completed in 2018, it depicts a young girl blowing the seeds from a dandelion with a network behind the main images representing the synapses in the brain. As the seeds blow away they transform into butterflies.

The work was by artists Zero Mentale and Alessio B. Synaptic-style nets are a recurring theme in Zero Mentale’s previous work. The work is 10 meters high and 20 meters wide, and took 10 people 10 days to install. The initial drawing took 80 sheets of paper and some 300 cans of paint from three different paint companies were required to complete it.

In addition to the main work, InfoCamera has embraced the art of the mural. They have added the geometric works of a street artist called Joy’s who has numerous works adorning the walls of Padua. The most significant at this site is the 24-meter-tall geometric work in pale blues and white adorning InfoCamera’s main tower.

More recently, a striking work by another artist has gone onto the gatehouse of the complex showing the continuing commitment of InfoCamera to street art in the city alongside their support to the biennial Superwalls festival.
