Mint Museum of Toys
30 years worth of pressed-tin, bakalite, and characters both loved and forgotten.
Mint, known colloquially as the Museum of Toys, sits in downtown Singapore amidst finance buildings of steel, glass and chique clubs. Inside: a collection of over 50,000 toys from 40 countries, spanning most of the 20th century.
You’ll see Dan Dare, the Green Lantern, Batman, Mickey Mouse, Robby Robot, and countless other characters and childhood favorites. Most interestingly, some pieces will have estimated value tags-one Popeye character pushing a tin tank is apparently worth $14,000 USD, other tags will tell you if a toy is one of a kind, and if not how many others exist.
It’s an interesting museum set inside a modern building, but beware; with a $15 price tag for entry, it’s exactly what it claims to be and nothing more, a museum of toys.
