Help improve Atlas Obscura by expanding Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center with additional information or photos.
Focusing on the stories of the individuals who made Buffalo, New York, a hotbed of underground railroad activity, this interactive museum allows visitors a chance to learn about the harrowing journey to freedom that many enslaved people were forced to make.
Exhibits detail the experiences of waiters at the famed Cataract Hotel, who were successful in assisting many enslaved people across the border to Canada and freedom. The stories of other abolitionists and allies are also told throughout the exhibit.
