Pink Holiday
Barbies stare from the walls, sit on the tables, and even pop out of cakes at this quirky cafe.
Located right near the busy Hinodecho station in Yokohama, the entrance to Pink Holiday would be easy to mistake for a warehouse if not for the bright pink Camaro attached to it.
Inside, the cafe is colored in all shades of pink and all the rooms are filled to the brim with more than 200 vintage and rare Barbie dolls as well as all kinds of Barbie memorabilia, including, bicycles, umbrellas, pillows, and backpacks. Even the chairs have frilly skirts attached to them.
The food, which ranges from pasta to curry to cupcakes, is similarly whimsical and cute. It comes on pink dishes and is often colored in some shade of pink. For the ultimate doll dessert, guests can preorder (you have to call ahead) a giant cake with a Barbie coming out of it. If you’re feeling lonely, all the tables have Barbie dolls sitting on them to keep you company. And, yes, you can play with them, too.
Pink Holiday was opened in 2017 by Hisano Ise, an avid Barbie collector. The cafe has since become a popular spot for birthday parties and family getaways. Unsurprisingly, it’s also popular with kids.
The cafe doubles as an official Barbie store where you can buy Barbie dolls and souvenirs. The dolls on display change every season, making it a fascinating place to visit year-round.
