This unique museum features many shipwreck exhibits. The earliest display features wreckage from a Roman sea-going vessel from 150 CE. In addition to this, there are artifacts from many shipwrecks around the United Kingdom including those from the Anne, a 17th-century battleship, and the Dutch vessel the Amsterdam, which ran aground about two miles west of the museum.
The museum not only features artifacts from shipwrecks, but also fossilized remains that were discovered locally.
Know Before You Go
The museum is easily missed, being tucked away on the right-hand side of Rock-a-Nore Road just before the Blue Reef Aquarium. Admission is free and the museum opens from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm weekly, with a wide range of special events and lectures during the year.
