Bekesbourne Tetrahedra Field
An anti-tank graveyard in the English countryside.
This entry is a stub
Near the railway line is the amazing but little-known field, where abandoned anti-tank obstacles nestle in the Kent countryside. These structures are presumably a relic of the nearby Bekesbourne World War I airfield, which was abandoned around 1940, although there is not much information available about how they ended up here. Many of them are marked with a letter and number and now lie in the field with trees and weeds growing between them. A completely unexpected, slightly spooky find in a lovely part of rural England.
Know Before You Go
It can be reached along public footpaths from Bekesbourne or Littlebourne, although most easily reached by walking up Aerodrome road and crossing the railway bridge to the field.
It goes without saying, keep away from the railway lines nearby.
If you’re in need of refreshments there’s a cafe with splendid homemade cakes down the Chalkpit Hills road called Mama Feelgoods.
