The Moravian Cemetery in Bethlehem, Pennslyvania is also known as “God’s Acre.” It is one of the oldest perpetually maintained cemeteries in the United States, with the oldest headstone dating to 1742. The most recent burial was in 1910, but the grounds are consistently cared for.

Residents believed that every person is equal in death, and so only flat headstones were allowed—exactly the same for each burial, except for the personalized inscriptions.
