Just a few miles east of Tallahassee, Florida, is a chance to learn about and interact with a number of endangered and threatened animals such as black-casqued wattled hornbills and a California red-shouldered hawk. There are also emus, great blue turacos, red-crested turacos, toucan, bats, mudskippers, and lemurs.

At the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to interact with and feed one of the center’s friendly black and white ruffed lemurs. The animals will often perch on your shoulder and eat your banana offering.

The Wildlife Conservation Center is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers. Their mission is education, conservation, and preservation.

Know Before You Go

To avoid overcrowding and maintain a calm environment for its residents, tours must be scheduled. Sometimes they run specials, but generally a tour is $30 for adults, $20 for kids under 16), and $25 for students. You can book directly on Facebook or call 850-347-0921
