A very pungent smell lingers in the air around Xigia Beach. This is due in large part to the waters flowing from a few nearby sea caves. In and around these caves the waters are left with a milky hue, along with the distinct smell of rotten eggs. The culprit behind these strange occurrences around Xigia Beach are the caves themselves, as the waters brewing from them are filled with sulfur. 

However, the beach is a popular haunt for tourists visiting the region. It’s widely believed that these sulfur-rich waters can provide relief for various physical ailments, ranging from arthritis to various bone/joint pains. Some even say a dip in these waters can help treat cellulite.
